The BIRTHDAY PROJECT
starts at midnight ET, Feb 5 (Monday night)!!

PLEASE spread the word to other fans who would like to participate but make sure they keep it hush hush until we start, so it will be a surprise for Darren! (So don't tag him in posts!)

THE IDEA:

We all know that Darren has been involved in a variety of projects for charities such as Trevor Project, Musicians On Call, and Operation Smile. (See info on our birthday fundraiser for Trevor and MOC HERE.)

Organizations (& celebrities) can often act on a large scale to do good in the world. Yet like Darren said, doing something huge “is not the end-all be-all way to make a difference by any stretch of the imagination... Doing something focused & with passion is big, that is a big thing in & of itself.” (See the video here.)

So we thought it'd be great for us fans to share how Darren has inspired US to make a difference for people, for animals, for our community, or for the world we live in. Have you gotten involved in your community, done a random act of kindness, or reached out to someone in need? No matter how big or small the action, you have made a difference. We'd love to hear about it and we're betting Darren would too! :)

Like last year, the project has 2 main parts:

• We'll all Tweet on Darren's birthday, using the #InspiredByDarren tag.

• You can send us a story, video or graphic that we can compile with other fans' sumbissions and send to Darren.

PARTICIPATE ANY OR ALL OF THESE WAYS:

1. Tell your friends who love Darren and would want to share their stories and support him on his birthday.

2. Send us your story, video or graphic sharing how Darren inspired you to make a difference. 

3. Tweet on Darren’s birthday (Feb 5) and use the #InspiredByDarren tag. (Post a short version of your story, or your video or graphic.)

IMPORTANT DETAILS

• Spread the word here and elsewhere, but don’t tag Darren until Feb 5!

• Stories, videos & graphics:

  • Send us your submission at thecrissproject@gmail.com.

  • Videos & graphics should be horizontal/landscape. Time limit for videos is 30 sec.

  • We will compile stories, pix and videos but we will not edit, so what you send is what we’ll use.

  • By sending your story/graphic/video you are agreeing to our sending it as part of a compilation to Darren and possibly posting the compilation publicly.

  • Deadline: We'd like all submissions by Feb 4, but will accept late submissions through Feb 9.

  • WHEN: Feb 5, from midnight Eastern Monday night to midnight Pacific Tuesday night

  • WHAT: Post a short message about what you did, are doing, or plan to do because Darren inspired you

  • HOW: Use your 280 characters, or post your graphic or video

  • TAGS: Use the hashtag #InspiredByDarren, and if it fits also say #HappyBirthdayDarren!
